And one important note, you should pick eye shadow shades that have matching colors with your eyes color, hair color, and skin tone but contrast with the color of your clothes. Next, you will need to choose between a darker feature color and a lighter supporting color for smokey eye makeup. Here are some tips for you to choose the best feature color eye shadow that suits with some eye colors.

Brown eyes
You will have an amazing smokey eye effect if you choose copper, coffee, and brown. Of course you still can pick the traditional black or grey.

Green or Hazel eyes
The best suits for green or hazel eyes are deep khaki, dark green, brown, purple, or plum, in addition to black or grey color eye shadow.

Blue eyes
In addition to black or grey, you can try a violet, purple, or dark blue eye shadow. In particular, your blue eyes will accentuate by the dark blue eye shadow, because it will be darker than your eye color.

Then, you need to pick your supporting eye shadow color after you have chosen your feature eye shadow color. You might choose a light color eye shadow that matches your feature eye shadow color, if you are people that like to use single eye shadows. You will look soft sophisticated by trying lilac, light peach, champagne, taupe, nude or a sand color.

Tips: Creamy texture eye shadows are more difficult to smudge and blend, so we not suggest to you. Rather, we recommend you to use powdery eye shadows.

Step 2: Choose your eyeliner pencil

You have 2 choices for a soft eyeliner pencil. You can choose the same color or a complementary shade to your feature eye shadow.

Tips:
•    Powder liner eyeliner pencil is easier to blend and is sometimes available with a sponge tip. Choose this eyeliner pencil if possible for easy blending.
•    Soft and sultry finishes are not suits for liquid eyeliners. They are better for sharper lines.

Step 3: Apply your foundation base

When doing Smokey eye makeup, you don't need to apply your full foundation before applying your eye makeup. Rather, the first thing you should apply is your eye makeup because you won't ruin the foundation if you get some of your eye shadow on the rest of your face. You must don't want a raccoon eye look under your eye, aren't you? To make clean canvas for your eye shadow, give more even and accurate eye shadow application, and also help to prevent the eye shadow from creasing, you should first apply a thin layer of foundation to your eyelids followed by a thin layer of face powder to set the foundation.
